The Australian psychedelic-dance three piece Jagwar Ma played a very intimate show at a cosy venue next to Berlin’s most famous club Berghain.
Since I had gotten there quite early I got myself a glass of wine and sat by the fireplace inside the venue until the Dutch band Klangstof filled the air with chill tunes that somehow reminded me of The XX and got the audience hyped for headliner Jagwar Ma. The place turned into a light-illuminated room filled with people dancing as if they were the only ones in the sweat-dripping room. I could feel the heavy bass rattling my bones and the crowd’s wild dance moves shaking the walls. Throughout the whole gig you could feel some kind of club atmosphere slowly taking over the audience. It wasn’t just the gig-untypical atmosphere that made this show quite an experience but Jagwar Ma mastering their instruments beautifully in combination with a strong voice and the joy the band infected the venue with.
