It’s been three long years. Taylor Swift has risen from her grave (or got out of the suitcase she lived in lol). ‘Reputation’ is one of the most anticipated albums of the year. We love and adore Taylor for her blunt honesty and incredible songwriting skills – but what happened to those?
Since the album is not published on any streaming services (yet) and you can’t buy single songs off the album, I ended up buying the album. If there’s one thing Taylor is good at it’s selling and marketing, even though everyone hates her for it – she’s a business woman. The first song that came on shuffle was ‘This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things’ and two seconds in I already regretted buying it.
The singer was right: Taylor Swift is dead. The album shows a different, more mature side of her. Country princess TayTay with her cute blonde curls is history. Swift shows off her new confident self and throws around with sexy lyrics and we even get to hear her curse (SHE SAYS SHIT!!!).
‘Reputation’ doesn’t feel like Taylor Swift and doesn’t come close to any of her previous work. The lyrics are repetitive and it feels like Taylor is singing the same song over and over again. Of course there are better and worse songs: all in all it’s a 4.6/10 – Sorry Taylor.
Worst songs: ‘I Did Something Bad’, ‘This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things’
Favourites: ‘Dress’, ‘Call It What You Want’
